Grandparents’ 50 years’ Anniversary: I prefer some jewelry!

It was my grandparents’50 years’anniversary. And they held a big dinner, inviting all the relatives, including my cousins, my aunts and uncles, and their own brothers and sisters. There was someone worth noticing: my grandma’s younger sister, who has long been living in America and returned to our little town just the same.

We all brought presents: cakes, clothes, fruits, and all other very practical things: my cousin even brought a bag of rice! We laughed at him but he said that old people just needed this kind of things. And when I saw the expanding faces of my grandparents, I reckoned it right. The dinner went on in an exciting atmosphere. We laughed, sang and told jokes. At the middle of it the phone rang. I picked it up for my grandparents. “Who is that speaking?” “Well you are supposed to be the granddaughter, without doubt. You sound so young. Tell your grandma to look out of the window. I am a surprise to her.” Confused, I looked out myself also. It was an old lady, very elegant and well dressed. But who was that?

Stunned for a monent, grandma looked thrilled. “Sister, it’s you! But how did you get the news! We haven’t seen each other for more than forty years!” “Yes, but how can I forget our deal, how can I forget my promise to you: when you got married exactly fifty years ago this day was already expected.” “Wow!” grandma couldn’t say anything other than that.

“And sister, I have also got you a surprising prsent. Look what it is.” She took out a pair of little cases out of her bag with much attention. They were something like, as it were, jelwery. And my immagination was proven the next moment: out of the cases came two delecate bracelets. They were Tiffany. The one of them was femminine and the other, masculine. They matched so perfectly!

“Oh sister, we are of such an old age! What use will this sort of things be of to us? They belong to the young!” “No no, don’t think so. You should first have a young heart and you will grow younger and younger.” They were put on the wrists of my grandparents and they immediately looked different! Grandma leaned her head toward grandpa’s shoulder and smiled: “Old man, why didn’t you give me a Tiffany fifty years ago?” and I suddenly turned my eyes upon the bag of rice from my cousin. I laughed happily, together with the others, with the happy couple.
