Recieved five one dollar bills in the mail from a unknown company..creepy! What should I do?
Today I checked the mail and received a letter from nielsen media Research that included a survey and with the survey was five one dollar bills..I opened and they just popped out…but mention in the letter it said that the money was a token of their gratitude for filling out the survey. I’ve never heard of this and I’m wondering if it is a scam. It asked for my phone number and name and address. Should I keep the money? Should I fill out the survey? Should I disregard? Send the money back? What do you think?
They are giving you the $5 to try to get as high of a compliance as possible so that their survey is as accurate as possible. If people are rewarded, they tend to fill out the survey.
They have found that if they don’t reward people for taking a survey, they will only get a small number of respondents and those people have different characteristics than the population as a whole making the survey inaccurate.
