Souvenir Dollar
How much money should I bring to Taiwan for 7 days?
I am going with my school. They will be paying for the hotels, transportation, and most of the meals. All I’m supposed to pay for is dinner on a couple of nights (in the night market), some souvenirs, and any extra stuff I want to buy.
I was planning on bringing around 3200 Taiwan New Dollars, which is approximately 100 USD. Is that enough?
It might be enough if your school is already paying for everything and you don’t plan to eat anything except a few small snacks or small meals outside of the limited restaurant fare that will be given to you.
You can get by on that, but you might not enjoy everything to the extent that you might wish. But I suspect you will still have a good time if it is your first time to Taiwan, and you stick to only eating street food and buying very cheap gifts for the people back home, you can stay in that budget easily..
For a better time, I would suggest bringing 6000NT (200USD) to 10000 NT (~360 USD) spending cash to make sure that you can get some good junk and eat very well and get some more interesting higher quality souveniers, and it is probably still reasonable. But if you want to keep it cheap, 100 USD will easily get you by if you already have your accomodation and food taken care of… take advantage of that!
