Slabbed Proof
hello coin collecters! i have a question about storage.?
I’m three coins shy of completing my collection of silver eagle proofs. I am now storing them in a Dansco album complete with the “Archival Slipcase” will this discolor the coins over time? Most of my coins are slabbed and stored away but i really like the accessibility,in the end the preservation of the collection is most important. what have your experience been? please help!!!
I am not so sure that the Dansco albums themselves are archival. Also taking the coins out of the hard plastic holders means you had to handle them and I hope you used coin gloves. On modern proof items I have noticed they sell better with original boxes and capsules. To me it has always been the coins not the holders that count but modern buyers are plaing a dangerious game for some holders are not that great and most come from by the mint. That is mint set and proof set holders. Myself I have some of the silver eagle proofs only because a good friend past on and I got his proof eagles. They are dated 1994-2000. A couple dates are on the scarce side. If I do keep them I will buy archival capsules for them, but not sure how I would display them. You are right the silver eagles in proof are really nice and they should be displayed but not so sure about an album. Maybe Eagle makes an album for them. You can go to www.brooklyngallery.com or www.eaglecoinholders.com to get an idea of what type of archival systems are available. Brookly has a lot of systems and the prices are good. Hope this helps.
