Competition To Be Stressed In State Of The Union Address
Very soon, Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union address to Congress. The economy is to function heavily as the substance of the annual presidential address. Job creation and increasing American competition in international trade is probably going to be among the main points. Foreign relations and fiscal policy are also likely to be major topics. Spending policy to curb deficits and debt are also likely to be a major topic. If all goes well the government might not need quick installment loans to survive.
President due to give second State of the Union address
President Barack Obama is going to give the second State of the Union address of his presidency on Tues, January 25. ABC reports that there is a new theme for this year as it is one of the biggest political events of the year. There will be mixed Democrats and Republicans this year instead of the traditional seating with each party on its own wing of the chamber. Members of Congress will be taking “dates,” asking members of the other party (often the opposite gender) to sit with them, which was the brainchild of Senator Tom Udall (D-Colo.), as a show of bipartisan solidarity in the wake of the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson.
Topic will concentrate on economic climate and ‘competitiveness’
The concentrate of the 2011 State of the Union address is going to be the economy. The Obama presidency has had to focus on that issue more than anything else. The way the United States is competitive is something Obama wants to increase when it comes to international trade. The WA Post accounts this will be discussed along with education and job creation by President Obama. In previous speeches, Obama has stressed that the U.S. needs to become an international powerhouse economically. It is expected that this annual address to congress will continue this idea. It’s possible that fiscal policy and gun control will even be discussed.
Also to hear about international relationships
Some discussion of overseas policy is also to likely be included, as almost all troops are likely to be withdrawn from Iraq by the end of the year and from Afghanistan by the end of 2014. Most major networks and news channels can be broadcasting the State of the Union. State of the Union addresses typically draw huge viewer ratings.
