What towns near San Antonio, Texas are family friendly, have decent house pries and great schools?

We may be transferred to San Antonio area and would prefer to stay south of the metro due to my husband’s travel. We have three children so schools, affordable housing and safe neighborhoods are definitely important to us!

I would not live south of downtown. The safer side of the city is def the north side. There are plenty of nice school an decent priced houses in Schertz and Cibilo. Ultimately you are gonna have to decide between your husband’s commute and what you consider safe.
