Roman Imperial

Roman Imperial
In what ways did the experience of the Roman Republic lay the foundations for imperial Rome?

This question is for my Classics class on Classical Archaeology. Please help me!

Not sure what you mean here. I have two reasons why Rome went from a republic to a monarchy:

1- The senate expected (poor) soldiers to fight for free (sort of free: low salary + booty, no retirement).
Soldiers cannot afford to do that. So they supported the general (always a senator himself) who offered them some retirement package.

The senate didn’t realize that they gave away the mot important instrument of power.

2- At the end of the Republic Rome in effect had a municipal government running a world empire. It didn’t work anymore. Problems that the early and mid republic would have dealt with easily became monstrous problems that nagged the senate to solve it.

Image that Mobile, Alabama, suddenly become the capital of the USA and the seat of the UN without any additional magistrates or civil servants.
