Meanings Of Flowers
Flowers are used for many different reasons. All flowers have meanings and if you visit your local Birmingham florists they will be able to let you know the meanings of different flowers. For example a lot of people already know the meanings of some flowers such as red roses are for love. White roses means purity. Yellow rose is for friendship. Orange rose represents exactly the same thing as yellow rose. Pink roses are used as gifts to give away.
Not only roses have meanings there are other various flowers out there which signifies something. Flowers such as cosmos, apple blossom, aster, camellia, hibiscus and daisy all have meanings.
Below I have put together a list of flowers with meanings.
Aster means pleasure
Apple blossom is used as an assurance (to be sure)
Camellia means graciousness
Daisy means purity or innocence
Cosmos means calm, quiet and peaceful
Hibiscus means faint love
Gardenia means enjoyment
Striped means refusal
Begonia means deep thinking
Jasmine grace and elegance
Lilac means first love
Marigold means desire for riches
Poppy means giving or consolation
Orchid means soft beauty
Pink rose means closeness but in friendly way
Red rose means adoring love
Red and white rose means agreement
White rose means purity
Pink tulip means gentle or helpful
Purple tulip means faithfullness
White tulip means forgiveness
Ivy means fidelity
Holly means domestic happiness
There are plenty more flowers than means something, feel free to let me know about others. Flowers are seasonal as we all know, it also has monthly meanings, what I mean is carnation is January, daisy is for April, rose is for June and so on. I don’t have much knowledge on this yet but I will surely be doing some research on this for my next post.
If you go to your local florists they will tell you why they use white flowers as funeral flowers, decorated and coloured flowers for wedding and birthday flowers. Flowers can certainly be an interesting read.
