Plated Medal
my great uncle died leaving me 1st world war medals?

my great uncle died recently ,he left me four medals from world war one,and a plate with medal winners child on it dated 1915,the child is my great uncle a relative ive never met offered me £500 for them.i don’t want to part with them and he has threatened to go through the courts to get them shared amongst us.he never met the man and has never bothered with any of the family for years, but knew my great uncles dad was a war hero. he is in politics.with nothing written down, can he have any claim to any of these medals

It doesn’t matter if he’s in politics, it doesn’t matter if he’s prime minister, a will is a registered public legal document and as the beneficiary you have the sole rights to the medals.

Just ignore his threats, he could contest the will but he has no grounds, not only would he lose but he would have to pay the legal expenses himself.

Tell him if he persists that you have taken legal advice (which you just have) and that he doesn’t have a leg to stand on.
