Should I go to the doctor for chest pains?

I have very high cholesterol for my age, 262 for a 19 year old. I am not fat, I weigh 130 LBs on a 5′ 10” frame. However both my parents have high cholesterol. I recently started feeling pains in my heart, like if something is passing through my heart. Is it he plaque from the cholesterol? Should i tell my parents of the chest pain and go to the doctor and possibly receive statins or would it go away with diet and exercise? I have been dieting and exercising for about a month and still no relief. The pain for not come often nor does it last for more than a second but it just has me worried.

Diet and exercise are a good start, but see your Dr first because you still might have high lipids because you are genetically predisposed.You should have a baseline cardiac workup,but you are off to the right start!
