Medal Signed

Is there a law or anything against awarding yourself defunct medals, such as the Order of Lenin?
I mean like if I just started wearing around old Soviet medals or something and ascribing them to yourself. Maybe even signing some of the initials after your name that you get with the medals. I mean they’re defunct, right? They don’t really mean much, right? Order of the Red Star and stuff like that. Dictators do it right?
If you restrict yourself to defunct nations, such as the Soviet Union, and medals that are not issued by any modern version (such as Russia) AND you do not use the “award” in order to persuade anyone to give you anything of value, or enter into any kind of an agreement with you (because it would be fraud), well then, I suppose you could do that.
I doubt if US law would prevent you wearing any foreign medals or decorations regardless of the country, but I’d steer away from NATO countries and close allies just in case.
