Why do they still have the Brownlow Medal, when it is now a national league?
That was only any value for the old defunct VFL. They should come up with a new medal. By keeping the Brownlow it could be argued that they should have adopted the medal awarded in SA or WA, when their teams were introduced. Is it only because there are more Victorians on the decision making committee?
It should be changed to give it some worthwhile value. Like get John Howard to present one & call it the John Howard medal. That seems a better idea to me. Agree?
They still have the Brownlow to appease the multitude of Victorians who are still peeved that the the game went national. They would rather that the Victorian teams plundered the better players from other states. They are rather a fickle mob —- the AFL included!
