Kara DioGuardi And Ellen DeGeneres Leave The Idol Stage

The reality has set in for “American Idol” fans that Simon Cowell is no more a part of the show. But judges are now dropping like flies, reports the entertainment press. Ellen DeGeneres told her adoring public that she is departing “AI”. Now the Los Angeles Times reports that Kara DioGuardi has been given the boot. Chill dog Randy Jackson may not be alone for long, though, as reports indicate that Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler may be filling the vacant seats.

‘American Idol’ has come on hard times

Fox and the “American Idol” production group seem intent on squeezing each and every last bit of magic out of the show’s formula, and there may nevertheless be some left. Deadline.com claims that Jennifer Lopez could be coming on as Kara DioGuardi’s replacement when Season 10 begins in January, but nothing has been confirmed. Like Paula Abdul before her, Jennifer Lopez started her entertainment career as a dancer. A Lopez return to Fox may remind a number people of her stint as a dancer on “In Living Color”.

‘AI’ is losing ground, but still popular

Sure, “Idol” is still one of the nation’s more viewed programs, but a decrease in viewership has not gone unnoticed by the show’s producers. Reports are that they were on the verge of letting Ellen DeGeneres go. Unlike the Kara DioGuardi situation – her contract simply went un-renewed – Ellen was given the chance to bow out gracefully. Ellen was non-confrontational in a statement- “A couple months ago, I let Fox and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me”. She knew what every person already knew from day one- that she was not comfortable giving singers musical advice.

“We love Ellen and understand and support her decision to bow out of ‘Idol’,” said Fox Networks Group chairman Peter Rice.

The chemistry was wrong

“Idol” Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe made no bones about how Kara DioGuardi, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson didn’t mesh well onscreen. Adding Ellen DeGeneres to the mix didn’t help matters. Lythgoe’s personal choices following the failed experiment would are Usher, Elton John and good old Paula, but that isn’t really close to happening. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler appear to be on the fast track to “AI”.

Steven Tyler isn’t really talking

Gossip site X17 Online spotted Steven Tyler outside the Sunset Marquis hotel in Los Angeles and asked for his take. Allegedly, Tyler would be made head judge, the role once played by Simon Cowell. Of course Tyler played his cards close to the vest. Yet he also didn’t deny the likelihood.
