Adventureland-the movie: Is James (Jesse Eichenberg) a good dating
role model for guys?
Where’s the attraction?
James is a straight shooter and sort of clueless with girls. But he’s himself, knows who he is and where he’s going. Does he appeal to most girls? Not sure. But he DOES attract girls:
- Probe and Test: Sharing a Shakespeare sonnet with Emily (Kristen Stewart-from the Twilight and New Moon movies) began the attraction and triggered emotions- so important. Watch how James moves in closer – brushing against Emily’s shoulder while watching the fireworks. This gives you an idea where you currently stand. If she pulls away, then remember she’s not quite ready for something more physical. You are always probing and testing where you stand with her. Girls: You can initiate these probes also. In fact, if you are into the guy, give some strong signs (warm smiles with major enthusiasm).
- Gentleman Charms: James as a gentleman surprises Lisa P. by helping her carry stuff. Lisa P. is the girl most of the guys at Adventureland theme park fantasize. She thought to herself that she wouldn’t mind going out with a nice guy. So Lisa P. tells James that we should go out sometime. Naturally, James rises to occasion to date the hottest girl there. Lucky? Or is he just a straight, helpful and sincere guy?
- Deception?: A word about Connell (Ryan Reynolds): A lot of guys operate like Connell – they get some girls with deception. You be the judge – always having to check their back and remembering the fictional stories.
Remember: The role model that you choose determines how hard you have to work to rack up dates.
NEXT POST: We look at Tom Cruise in the Top Gun movie as a dating role model.
