Web Rankings: Get to the Top on Google
What is the number one most important step that you can do in your SEO plan when it comes to your web rankings? You have both on page and off page optimization. No search engine publishes information on what makes a website get a higher ranking. If we take a look at other websites and see what they are doing, we can get a pretty good feel of what we need to do. The most important factor when it comes to ranking high in the search engines, consists of how many backlinks you have going to your website.
In these podcast interviews, I’ve learned that backlinks are the sledgehammer of getting a high web ranking. You can rank well for just about anything if you have enough links pointing back to the website you want to promote.
I said it before that the search engines don’t make it known about what their search factors are. I however, find it difficult to obtain the quality of links that the search engines expect you to obtain. This is just a thought, but reciprocal linking and purchasing links from another person’s website are methods that are going by the wayside. I believe that the search engines are going for more of quality instead of quantity. So that is one of the reasons why I think getting the right amount of backlinks in more difficult.
In this Ken Evoy interview, I’ve learned that I believe search engines are after the quality relevance over a long period of time. So you still have to concentrate on back link building whatever way you do it. The most important factor in your linking plan is that you stay consistent.
You might be wondering what are the best ways are to get links going back to your website. I have found that writing articles and submitting them to directories is by far the best method to use.
When you go out to get links for your website, you want to keep the pace going so that it doesn’t look like your putting everything all out there at once.
When you go to your keyword list, find the one that appeals to you the best and make that your primary domain name. Not everyone will link to your website using a keyword. Some will just link back to your website with the URL. If this is the case then the search engines can figure out what the main subject of your site is. Don’t overlook putting the keyword in the title, description and keyword meta-tags. Just those two steps alone can rank you number one in the search engines with the keyword you are trying to target. Just make sure you don’t go out and get those links going back to your website in one day. Web rankings take time to build up.
