Bottled Water Cost – And You Thought Gas Prices Were Out Of Sight?
Do you consume bottled water? If you do you’re not alone. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), over half of all the public buy bottled water, to the tune of $4,000,000,000 every year.
The impressive snow capped mountains and glaciers lead us to believe that bottled water is pure and less hazardous to drink than water from the tap, but this isn’t always the case as given on NRDC’s site at www.nrdc.org.
Another prestigious reference on bottled H2O is the World Health Organization, and you can see this site at www.who.int for more information from another point of view.
Not all bottled water is under examination, but not all is healthy and pure either. You may just be buying municipal tap water that has been bottled and then sold at thousands of times the cost of what you’re paying for water coming out your faucet.
Why do the public pay so much for bottled drinking water you wonder? Some metrpolitan areas tap water is less than preferred; it smells foul and tastes funky. That would be plenty for me right there. But there are other reasons why people select to buy bottled water.
It’s convenient too. Not everyone feels like taking around a Nalgene bottle everyday. It’s just one more thing to keep track of throughout the day. Bottled H2O is a better alternative to soda pop or other unhealthy beverages, and probably better for you even if some of it is just city water from the tap.
There has been much discussion the past few years about the toxins present in public water supplies, which is why companies that offer bottled H2O are breaking the bank. Bottled drinking water has the image of being safer and more pristine than what comes out of our tap. In all reality, we just shouldn’t have to choose bottled H2O over municipal tap water, even if it is trendier.
Before you begin making regular outlays for bottled water you may want to check up on the brand you care considering consuming great amounts of. Just check out the label of the next bottle you pick up to see if they have a site and what type of information they provide to you and me. If they don’t furnish what you’re looking for, then I’d be finding out about another brand, or just sticking with the municipal tap water. It’s cheaper.
