Gallienus Rome

Gallienus Rome
Christian historians. Did you know it was Gallienus, not Constantine, that legalized Christianity in Rome?

For those who care about these things or find them interesting….

I had always assumed it was Constantine who passed the Religious tolerance act in part to add a base to his power. However, it was Gallienus in 261. It was a move to encourage Roman intellectuals, who imbraced different religious movements and to help him maintain his throne.

Dedicated to those who don’t think that Religion has been affected by politics….:)
It was the first time since the death of Jesus that it was legal to practice their faith.
BrotherM, nice work. :)

That’s interesting, thank you for sharing. I have actually wanted to begin studying the history of Christianity. It’s so hard to know where to begin!
