Can anyone tell me please if it is possible to visit Grossglockner in winter?
I have been there once before, but it was in September a few years back. I would like to visit the area where you can see the glacier (I think it was called Franz-Joseph Glacier, Maybe?), however, this time I will be in Austria in early February?
Will I be able to access the viewing area at this time? If so, will I be able to drive my vehicle (4WD) to the viewing area, or will I need to go with a tour company?

On the official web site they say the road will probably be open until end of october, and it was opened 28 april this year.

So I suppose you will have no chance at all going there in february, neither by your own 4WD nor by a bus tour.
