Elongated Quarter
Spider in Cali Bay Area?
In every house that I’ve lived in (all in the SF bay area) I’ve encountered these brown spiders that our fat, the size of a quarter, a little elongated, webless, fast, and they like to jump off the wall when they see me coming after them with a shoe. I have yet to actually kill one, because they’re so fast they scare me into just leaving the room.
I’ve looked up every site I could on what species they could be, however my luck is slim. Anyone else know what they are?
I will guess these are jump spiders. these are quite harmless,
and are even reluctant to bite. They do leave a strand of silk behind
them in case they miss where they want to land.
I have handled a great many of them, and no bites.
(a bite would be insignificant)
You really have little to fear from these spiders.
