Mark LeCras
Introduction and Early Life
Mark LeCras is a professional Australia Rules football player that is currently playing for the West Coast Eagles football club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was born on August 30, 1986 in Perth, West Australia. He is about 1.83 metres tall and weighs about 81kg presently. He plays in the forward position and wears jersey number 2 of the West Eagles football club colours. There are no concise reports about his early life football history, but it is evident that he is still a budding talent. He has an older brother whose name is Brent LeCras and he plays for the North Melbourne Football Club. Mark is engaged to his long time girl friend Emily Marshal.
Early Football Career
Mark has played for a number of football clubs at the junior level before he was drafted to play in the AFL. He was recruited from Perth in West Australia in the West Australia Football League (WAFL). He happened to be the number thirty seven (37) draft pick in the 2004 AFL national draft and eventually made his debut into the AFL in the tenth round of 2005 in the game against Port Adelaide.
Professional (AFL) Football Career
Mark LeCras made his debut into the AFL during the 2005 season but was later sent back to the WAFL. He was later recalled back to the AFL during the fourteenth round of the 2006 season against Hawthorn Hawks Football Club. He was again dropped after what can be described as a not too impressive performance in that game. He was again recalled back for the round 22 encounter against Richmond football club and Mark performed exceptionally well. His performance in this game was considered a surprise especially when considered with respect to his immediate previous performance. He kicked about five goals in the game with Richmond Football Club. At the end of the 2006 season, he came fourth in the Sandover medal for the Best Player in the WAFL.
The 2007 season was one that had a number of challenges for Mark. Most of these challenges were going to be determinants of his success or failure in the AFL. One of such critical challenges was to find his way back into the first team of the club. He worked so hard and eventually made his way back into the first team of the club and ended up that season with thirty six goals. During the 2009 season, Mark was able to kick fifty eight goals in both home and away engagements. This achievement thrust him forth as a contender for the All Australia team, unfortunately he did not make it into the national team. He kicked his 100th goal during the thirteenth round of the 2009 season. The 2009 season was unarguably his best so far and he ended it as one of the leading goal kickers.
The next season of 2010 was also a reasonably good one for him. He made history by breaking a record of the highest goals kicked in a match by a player when he kicked twelve goals against Essendon. He finished on the third position in the Coleman Awards. He was also able to get the All Australia team selection as a forward player. He was awarded the West Coast Eagles Champion this year too and was also one of the contenders in the Goal of the Year Award.
