Dairy Queen Coin/Token?

My two-year-old son pulled a large silver coin out of his pocket tonight, and we have no idea where he found it. It says it’s good for a sundae or 40 cents off a royal treat. I’ve never seen one before. Any idea how old this might be?

Wow, I haven’t seen one of those in a long time. When I was a kid 20 yrs. ago they used to give those out at the library when we read a certain number of books. DQ would give them out at birthday parties.
