The Silver Spurs Rodeo Offers Fun for Everyone
Do you want to do something fun this weekend? Why not head down to the Silver Spurs Rodeo which is being held February 18th, 19th, and 20th? This year’s event is in honor of the rodeo’s 126th anniversary. You can gather up your family and make it a day by watching events, eating good food, and listening to music. Better yet, you can help out a worthy cause by showing your support for cancer research. Friday the 18th at 7:30 PM is our PINK night. Tough Enough to Wear Pink is the theme. Contestants, volunteers, even spectators wear your PINK!
Donate Your Hair to Children with Cancer
This year the Silver Spurs is teaming up with Double J Salon to cut your hair. If you have more than 8 inches of hair and would like to donate it to Pantene to make wigs for kids fighting cancer then you’re in luck. During the rodeo, we will have a salon set up to cut your hair for free! If that wasn’t exciting enough, the Silver Spurs has teamed up with Florida Hospital to donate $1.00 for every ticket sold on Friday night. That contribution goes to Florida Hospital Cancer Center in Osceola County.
History of the Silver Spurs Rodeo
The Silver Spurs Rodeo was founded by the Silver Spurs Riding Club in 1944. It’s main mission was to promote good horsemanship and good fellowship in Osceola County. Currently, it is one of the most successful rodeos in the country and the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi. It is also ranked annually among the top 50 events sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Held for years outdoors, the Silver Spurs Rodeo now has a new home in the high-tech Silver Spurs Arena. This state-of-the-art facility is climate controlled and offers the best in lighting and audio. Changes like these help draw a bigger crowd of spectators to the three day event.
