How do I increase the size of the recovery partition in vista premium?
I have a HP laptop with vista premium pre installed. I keep getting pop ups that my D (Recovery partition) is running low on disk space. I tried to “clean it up” but the clean up utility does not remove the recovery (6.8gig) files. I have lots of free disk space left on the c partition and would like to increase the size of my recovery partition if its not posible to overwrite the existing recovery files.
BTW I have already burned the recovery files to a dvd-dl

1) Get a real install disk from HP. Not the shitty HP recovery disk, a real Windows install disk. You may have to bug them for a few minutes to get it.
2) Trash that disk you burned.
3) Wipe the hard disk completely.
4) Install from the real install disk.
You do not need the recovery partition. At all. The whole idea is stupid and really only there to make it quick for their customer service people to restore the computer to their defaults quickly, crappy software and all. Instead, make regular backups to an external disk.
