Bulgarian Medal
MANDATORY prison for drug cheats in sport?

OK.. the damage being caused by steroid fueled sports cheats like Marion Jones, Ben Johnston and countless others is manifesting in numerous ways. Firstly is the massive loss of people interested in sports. Numbers are certainly down.

The other effects include a total loss of image for an entire nation, due to a few drug cheats.. USA clearly has a bad reputation as does China and in the old days it was the Bulgarian or German weight lifters.. today it’s almost every nation in almost every sport!!

How can this be fixed and what kind of punishments should be handed down?

Clearly modern punishment doesnt work. So here is my list open for discussion:
1) MANDATORY 12 month prison terms for drug cheats for DISGRACING THE NATION.. this should be put into law.
2) Return ALL medals EVER won and struck OFF all record books or events books.. blot names of drug cheats right off the history books compeltely!! give then NOTHING!!
3) Loss of earnings!! TAKE THEIR MONEY!! ALL OF IT ..

I don’t think prison time is appropriate for this. In general, there is a loss of professional reputation and frequently a loss of titles. There is a loss of endorsements and sponsorships. The process seems to take care of itself. The court system and prisons need to focus their resources on the crack cocaine dealers not steroid using athletes.
