The Three Legged Toad: Tiny But Mystical Feng Shui Creature
It is said in feng shui literature that a three legged toad, also known as money frog, could bring good fortune to a person’s career because it has mysterious capabilities. It was told that when the moon is full, it will appear nearby someone’s house; and it will mean that riches will come your way.
Also known as Chan Chu, it is represented as a frog with a coin in its mouth squatting on top of coins and gold bars. At its lips can also be found a red string with coins attached. Seven connected dots can be seen on its back, which is a symbol of the Ursa Major constellation.
In Chinese mythology, the three legged toad is often seen together with Liu Hai, the Daoist god of wealth and prosperity. It is Liu Hai’ favorite and they are good friends. They go on trips together and sometimes when the toad is inside a well, Liu Hai lures him out by flashing a gold coin. Hence, that’s how the picture and depiction of both started.
In another Chinese folklore, it was said that the toad was in the beginning evil and ruthless. Not till Buddha showed up at one point and made the frog a creature of great assistance to many. The three legged toad shoots out gold coins from its mouth as a gesture of apology.
So you could see the relationship of toad and money. Currently, the toad is now a fashionable and well-accepted emblem for career improvement. Another great characteristic it has is the ability to minimize the chances of losing money. It will stop you from buying too much or lower the risks of money squandering that is not your fault.
A three legged toad can be bought from a lot of stores, in different sizes, and materials. Locate the figurine at a designated position in your property. One suggested location is at the living area obliquely opposite the entry way.
More than one toad is also possible. Place both at the main door, one facing outside so it can bring in money, while the other will face inside your house to preserve the money you already have. Extra frogs is also recommended. You can display as many as nine three legged toads. Just scatter it in spots at the dining room, living room and garden.
If you’re a real estate broker for example, put the toad on top of your work table. If you own a business, situate the three legged toad near the cash register but facing away from it. Do not put the three legged toad in the bathroom, kitchen, or bedroom since it will be useless in those locations.
