The number of visitors coming to Hanoi nearly one million
Mr. Mai Tien Dung, Deputy Director of Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism in Hanoi said that if the accuracy of the international visitors coming to Hanoi in early six months of 2011, this figure could reach nearly one million.
Hanoi is one of the most visited of the Vietnam popular destinations, is the beautiful capital city of Vietnam, sprawling in the banks of the Red River with French colonial heritage. Hanoi has a population of 3 million which is constantly growing with a lot of interesting places that attract a lot of foreign tourist each year such as: Hoan Kiem Lake (lake of Restored Sword) situated right in the middle of Hanoi, Vietnam with the 18th century Ngoc Son Temple (Jade Mountain Temple) sitting on an island in its centre. Ho Chi Minh museum is undoubtedly the most popular tourist attraction in Hanoi. Here the national hero, Ho Chi Minh is more visible than in the city named upon him, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This museum is located in the old French administrative centre of Ville Francaise. Here Ho Chi Minh is held in reverential regard. Currently, the number of tourists officially announced by Hanoi’s Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism in early six months is 650,000 visitors, up 23% over the same period last year, of which the leading client is China, followed by Australia, Japan.
However, according to Mai Tien Dung’s interpretation, the number of tourists was provided only by PA18 (Immigration Management Office- Hanoi Police). A large number of international visitors not stay in Hanoi are not statistically by PA18.
Visitors travelling by sea to Hai Phong, Quang Ninh are not statistical and then visiting Hanoi during the day and then returned to the localities; Chinese tourists to Vietnam with laissez from north gates is brought to Hanoi by the travel company and go on tour in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong.
Prior to this fact, Hanoi’s Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism is cooperating with city police and Department of Statistics redefinition of international visitors coming to Hanoi to ensure accuracy.
