thank you..though maybe i can get a better answer if i say im trying to figure it out for the “Guanyin, Goddess of Mercy” from the early 15th century..like from the time of the ming dynasty..=/
A bronze sculpture is usually the result of casting from a mold or”negative”.form. . The means of achieving the “positive” that a mold has been made of, may have been the result of using any of the three methods you’ve mentioned or even a combination of those techniques.
For instance the sculptor Deborah Butterfield has produced some of her horses using driftwood that has been collected. She assembles the wood to arrive at the form she desires.Numbering each piece of wood as she goes. Then disassembles the pieces and has molds made of the individual pieces of wood that she has chosen. Bronzes are casted and the individual bronze versions of the wooden pieces are assembled, by welding, back into the horse form based on her original design in the initial wooden assemblage.. A carver might make a mold of a carving to be cast in another material. Or someone modeling in clay or wax might do the same.
Butterfield Link below. These are relatively recent works. In the past much of her work would be considered assemblage and there was no casting in bronze involved. The last photograph in the link ,Untitled (small red steel), 2009, is an assemblage and not a casted bronze.

The explanation given still applies. The “Guanyin, Goddess of Mercy” was more than likely modeled in wax and then casted in bronzed using the “lost wax process” . But if you need to say what process was used,in this case, to achieve the positive in order that a mold could be made it would be modeling.
