Where do the dealers get bulk roman coin lots from?

I see dealers at shows and online selling these lots of 20, 50, 100 and even up to 1000(often uncleaned) ancient roman and byzantine coins all the time. Where do they get them from, and would it be possible for someone like me, ie just a ordinary hobbyist/collector, to get them from the same place?

These coins are being constantly found and dug out, and supplying the market. You can try to find out the names of the wholesalers that supply the retail dealers, but I doubt very much that any of them will sell directly to collectors. It hurts their overall business if their major customers find out they are being bypassed.
