Do religion influenced the Ancient Chinese knowledge of the body?
Acupuncture was said to repair the imbalance of the internal energy, or should I say, the chi energy. Some people believed that chi energy exist, and others don’t. I believed that the Ancient Chinese are influenced by the three main religion: Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism. These three religion claimed that everything in the universe hold the chi energy that keeps them working. They said that if we fell ill, there is an imbalance of chi in our body. Is this all true?
Acupuncture existed way before there were Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism. So religion does not have a influence on it.
By the way, Confucianism is not a religion. It is a guide on moral and social values.
Chi or qi comes from traditional chinese medicine practices.
