Aircraft Carrier
How does an ATC on an Aircraft Carrier communicate with the Helicopter Pilot?
I am working on a script/screenplay that incorporates certain aspects of the Military and Helicopter landings and procedures. Basically, I am looking for vernacular that would be used when a US Navy Helo is approaching and landing on an Aircraft Carrier. I am not looking for confidential info just procedural instructions and jargon that the Pilot and the Air Traffic Controller on the Ship would use to communicate with each other. If possible please give me an example, verbatim, of how this would occur.
First state the call sign, example “Jedi21″ then give instructions. Example, “Jedi21 cleared to land” To be more specific, give the location, helipad, runway, taxiway. “Jedi21 helipad 5 cleared to land” Or, “Jedi21 Alpah taxiway, cleared to land” Or if you need to give more information than that “Jedi21, remain east of the centerline, cleared to land”
