Your Guide To Yucatan Days And Nights
In our most recent commentary we talked about the jungle yucatan peninsula region south of Playa del Carmen as well as in the area of Tulum. In this column we are going to focus on Playa del Carmen and the recreational activities surrounding this thriving beachfront Caribbean township. What started as a quiet little Mexican fishing village, has quickly become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean. Back in the early 90s we visited that sleepy little village and I can say first hand it is a far cry from what it is today. Popularity brings growth and change, nevertheless if you are looking for a wonderful time and lots of action, Playa del Carmen is the place.
Playa del Carmen nowadays has become a Caribbean destination that has it all. From world class shopping on the illustrious 5th Avenue to various adventure parks, first class Playa del Carmen hotels and all-comprehensive resorts to dance clubs and dining alternatives to satiate even the most particular palette. Either by day or nighttime, you may find no shortage of activities to do in Playa del Carmen!
Playa del Carmen is so much more than just miles away from the modest Tulum hotels and eco-chic cabana resorts you will definitely encounter further down the coastline, but it still remains a lovely, dynamic and culturally abundant location to visit. By day, Playa del Carmen gives you some of the greatest people viewing to be found in Mexico, regardless of whether on the wide caribbean beaches or on the 5th Avenue walking mall you can see a wide range of company from all over the planet. There is so much to do and witness in this conveniently located little city, being a brief ferryboat ride to Cozumel for a fantastic day trip for snorkeling or scuba or going up the seashore 30 minutes to the city of cancun for even more options.
Playa del Carmen means beach days, snorkel and SCUBA tours, daylight jungle safaris, adventure theme parks, golf and great shopping. Playa del Carmen by night brings out the wild side in nearly all who venture out below the luminosity of the moon. In addition to the world class eating alternatives there are at a minimum a dozen night-clubs that cater to the late night dance and adventurous crowds. Widely recognized as a fun family vacation option, Playa del Carmen is quickly establishing itself as a challenger for Cancun with the dance party entertainment options. A couple of locations you may desire to visit for the dance-life in Playa del Carmen include; CoCo Bongo for entertaining stage shows with talented music cover bands, The Blue Parrot for the fire presentations on Friday and Saturday nights, OM Playa for a drink in comfort and La Santanera for a hip dj club.
Whether by day or nightlife, with family, a twosome or single traveler, Playa del Carmen genuinely offers something for everybody who is searching for a little or a lot of the caribbean in their holiday.
